The UHS Pharmacy will be closed Monday, July 21st through Friday, August 1st. We will reopen Monday, August 4th.
If you need to fill a new prescription: Take your prescription to any other pharmacy.
If you need to refill a prescription:
It must be filled at another pharmacy. Call the pharmacy of your choice and ask them to transfer your prescription. Have them call (512) 471-1824 Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:30pm. Please allow at least 2 hours for the transfer.
If you have no refills but need more medication:
Please contact the healthcare provider who originally prescribed your medicine.
If you are a UT athlete who needs to have a prescription billed to UT Athletics:
Please contact your trainer or physician for instructions.
If you have the Student Health Insurance and would like assistance:/
For UT students, faculty, and staff, the UHS Pharmacy can fill any valid prescription written by a healthcare provider licensed to practice in the United States. We accept cash, checks, MasterCard, Visa, Discover, Bevo Bucks, and nearly all prescription drug insurance plans - just call to see if we take yours. Payment for Pharmacy purchases is due at the time of purchase. We cannot bill for Pharmacy purchases. UHS pharmacists provide individual counseling about how to take your prescription medications, any potential side effects, and drug interactions. They can also help you choose the best over-the-counter (OTC) medication for your needs. We even offer compounding services should your healthcare provider decide that a combination of medications or a particular dosing method would best meet your needs. The UHS Pharmacy also stocks a great selection of personal hygiene products (shampoo, soap, deodorant, toothpaste, tampons, etc.), bike helmets, t-shirts, beverages, snacks, and other necessary items, all at very reasonable prices. We can also process prescriptions for contact lenses that will be delivered directly to you (see Related Links).

The UHS Pharmacy can fill prescriptions only for UT students, faculty and staff. Unfortunately, we cannot fill prescriptions for spouses or dependents, even if they are covered on the health insurance policy of a UT student, faculty, or staff member.

To refill a prescription that was last filled at UHS and that has valid refills remaining, you will need the name of your medication and the prescription number (see package label).
- Request refills online.
or - Call in your refill.
or - Bring in the old prescription and fill out a refill request form.
Prescription refills usually require 24 hours (one business day) advance notice. Please pick up your prescription within 7 days after you order it.
How to transfer a prescription to UHS from another pharmacy
To transfer a prescription from another pharmacy in the U.S.:
- Call or come by the UHS Pharmacy with the medication in its bottle or package. (The package label lists necessary information, including the prescription number and contact information for the other pharmacy.
- Transferred prescriptions are usually ready in about 24 hours (one business day).
How to request release of your prescription records
You can submit a request to have your prescription records released to you or to another person or entity. To do so, complete an Authorization of Release of Prescription Records (see Related Links).
There is no charge to get a copy of your prescription records.
Submit your authorization form in person. Bring valid photo identification.
OR
Fax your authorization form and a photocopy of your valid photo identification to (512) 475-8218.
Attention Student Health Insurance policy holders:
If you enroll or renew your existing policy with Student Health Insurance by paying Online there may be a period of up to 24-48 hours during which the pharmacy benefits manager system, Medco will not have your updated eligibility information. International students may experience delays of up to 3 weeks. If you have a prescription filled at the UHS Pharmacy during this time, you will be asked to pay the full amount of the charge. However, you can request reimbursement from Medco Claim reimbursement forms are available at UHS Pharmacy.
The UHS Pharmacy cannot fill prescriptions for spouses or dependents of students, even if they are covered on the Student Health Insurance plan.
