UT University Health Services

UHS Flu Shot Campaign 2020 - now through 10/23

(For students, faculty and staff only)

Getting a flu shot is more important than ever. Getting a flu shot can protect your and your fellow Longhorns. A flu shot can also prevent flu-related complications from using valuable medical resources needed by those with COVID-19 – a not yet vaccine-preventable illness.

All flu shots are being administered in the Texas Union Ballroom by appointment only.

Continue reading for information on safety precautions taken at the clinics, the type of flu vaccine being administered, charges and payment methods.

(Schedule opened every Wednesday for the following week)

Unfortunately, UHS cannot provide shots to UT retirees this year. We ask these individuals to schedule a flu shot elsewhere this year.

In addition to on-campus flu clinics, all employees with UT Select health insurance can also get the flu vaccine at any participating pharmacy or provider.

How UHS is making it as safe as possible to get a flu shot

  • To allow for social distancing, UHS will administer flu shots in the Texas Union Ballroom.
  • To prevent long lines, appointments are required to get a flu shot.
  • No walk-ins will be accepted at The Texas Union.
  • To decrease the risk of persons with COVID-19 symptoms coming to flu shot clinics, participants must complete the Symptom Survey feature in the Protect Texas Together app or, if they do not have smart phone (e.g. Iphone, Android), the Protect Texas Together phone survey. Find details here. Participants must present their “Clear to Come to Campus” pass (app) or their Clear to Come to Campus email (phone survey). Alternative symptom checking and check-in mechanisms will be available at flu shot check-in for those without smart phones.
  • To prevent spread of respiratory droplets protective face masks are required.
  • To minimize in-person contacts and hi-touch items, no cash/check transactions will occur.

About the flu vaccine UHS will administer

UHS will provide quadrivalent, preservative (thimerosal)-free, latex-free flu vaccine. UHS will not administer either of the vaccines that are made specifically for people age 65 and older. We ask those with allergies to eggs or those who have had a severe reaction to a prior flu shot to get their flu shot from their healthcare provider. You can also contact the Forty Acres Pharmacy to ask about flu vaccine for those age 65 and older or with an egg allergy.
