Types of Condoms

From SuperThin to UltraRibbed this information will guide you through the dizzying array of colors, shapes, sizes, textures, and flavors.

A note on condom testing: every condom packaged and sold in the United States has passed electronic testing. The Food and Drug Administration regulates condom manufacturing and conducts further tests on samples from every lot of condoms produced. If a sample fails, the lot is recalled. All condoms, whether they are thin, ribbed, or studded, undergo the same tests.

Textured Condoms

Ribs and studs are designed to stimulate both partners during sex. Some people say that you can't feel the texture, but others are big fans. Try them for yourself.

Large and Extra-Large Condoms

Some men find regular size condoms too tight and prefer the feel of a large or extra-large condom. Whatever the size, the condom should fit snugly around the base of the penis.

Climax Control condoms

Some condoms are lubricated with a small amount of a numbing agent, like benzocaine, to numb the penis and delay orgasm. Some men find these condoms helpful but others find that the numbing agent causes them to lose their erection.

Flavored Condoms

Flavored condoms are intended for oral sex but can be used for vaginal or anal sex.

Colored Condoms

Latex can be colored and condoms come in a rainbow of colors, including some glow-in-the-dark varieties.
