How to Schedule a Flu Shot Appointment Online

If you need a COVID-19 vaccination AND a flu shot, there is no need to wait between shots. Both can be given in the same timeframe. Learn how to schedule COVID-19 vaccination appointments here.

You must do the following before checking in on the day of your flu shot appointment:


  • Complete the Symptom Survey feature in the Protect Texas Together app or, if you do not have a smart phone (e.g., iPhone, Android) the Protect Texas Together phone survey. Find details here. You must present one of these when you check in.
  • Wear a face mask. Masks are required in all flu shot clinics, regardless of location.
  • Unless you require assistance, do not bring anyone with you (including children).
  • Present your UT ID card.
  • Present the QR code (phone or printed) you received when scheduling your appointment.

Instructions for Scheduling an Appointment

  1. Log into the MyUHS web portal. If you are faculty/staff and get a message that you are not eligible to schedule, call 512-471-4955 (press option 4) to have this corrected.
  2. Click Profile to enter/update your contact information.
  3. Click Medical Clearances.
    • If prompted, complete the required UHS Consent to Treat and Health History Forms.
    • To avoid completing the entire Health History Form, just enter accurate medications and allergies or, if true, click “No known allergies” and “No current medications.” Click “Done.”
  4. Click Appointments, then Schedule an Appointment.
  5. Select your Status as “Flu shots for students, staff and faculty” whether you are a student, staff or faculty.”
  6. Select the appropriate option regarding your insurance information/status. NOTE: If you have insurance that UHS accepts and do not enter it at the time you schedule your appointment, you will be billed $10 for the flu shot. Insurance Plans Accepted at UHS
    • Click “Proceed to booking appointment” and skip to #7 if you have:
      • UT Select under your own name or the UT Student Health Insurance Plan (AcademicBlue) (these plans are automatically entered into the MyUHS system OR
      • UT Select under your own name or the UT Student Health Insurance Plan (AcademicBlue) (these plans are automatically entered into the MyUHS system OR
      • another insurance plan accepted by UHS that you have already entered into MyUHS.
    • Click “Submit my insurance to UHS now” if you need to enter or update insurance information.
      • Begin the scheduling process again.
        • Click Appointments again, then “Schedule an Appointment”
        • Re-enter your status as “Student.”
        • Then click, “I have already submitted current insurance to UHS billing and insurance” and proceed.
  7. Click “I want to schedule my flu vaccine.”
  8. Complete and sign the pop-up Influenza Vaccine Consent form.
  9. Search for an appointment. Pay attention to date, time and location. IMPORTANT: The system shows available appointments only for the next seven days. Reset “Search Start Date” to be within seven days of the clinic at which you want to schedule your appointment.
  10. Schedule your appointment.
