When used consistently and correctly, condoms are 98% effective at preventing pregnancy. Condoms are also the only way, besides choosing not to have sex, to reduce the risk of sexually transmitted infections. Click here to learn more about how to use condoms and dental dams (and why they're effective).
The Longhorn Wellness Center offers a variety of free and low-cost ways for UT students to get condoms conveniently and reliably:
Students can find free condoms, dental dams, and internal condoms at the Longhorn Wellness Center (SSB 1.106).
Free condoms are also available in bowls in the Gender and Sexuality Center (SAC 2.112), the Multicultural Engagement Center (SAC 1.102), and the Center for Students in Recovery (BEL 222).
Healthyhorns Peer Educators distribute condoms around high-traffic areas on campus. Their schedule varies week to week, so look out for the students in the Healthyhorns shirts.
Healthyhorns Play Safe Post invites residents of all on-campus residence halls to request a free package of 5 condoms and lubricant, delivered weekly in discreet envelopes. Request condoms just once, or come back every week and order more.
Need a larger quantity of condoms to maintain a condom bowl in your residence hall or distribute during a presentation? The Healthyhorns Safer Sex Ambassador program allows individual students to request 50 condoms for just $10.
RAs and student organizations can request up to 200 condoms for $40 ($10 per 50 condoms). Event funds may be used to cover the cost.
Dental dams and internal condoms are also sold at the 40 Acres Pharmacy, on the first floor of SSB.
The Longhorn Wellness Center currently stocks regular sized latex, lightly lubricated Crown brand condoms. If you have a latex allergy or would like to try out a different size or brand, please visit the Forty Acres Pharmacy on the first floor of the SSB. They stock a great selection of condoms and lube at discounted prices.
