Medical Withdrawals and Course Load Reductions

Significant medical or mental health challenges can affect your ability to attend classes or perform academically. In these cases, you may apply for a semester withdrawal or course load reduction.

All requests for current semester withdrawal are processed by the office of the academic dean of your school/college up until the mid-semester withdrawal deadline. View the academic calendars. After that date, requests for a semester withdrawal for medical reasons will be processed by University Health Services; and requests for a semester withdrawal for mental health reasons will be processed by Counseling and Mental Health Center.

Resources

Before you apply, consider viewing these resources that showcase the most common reasons students withdraw. They might help you to avoid withdrawal, or if withdrawal is necessary, address the concern that you have, setting you up for success subsequent to your withdrawal.
