Graduate Training Programs

For years, the CMHC has offered high-quality training experiences for graduate students in social work, counseling psychology and clinical psychology. In 1966, our Internship in Health Service Psychology became the first University Counseling Center (UCC) internship in the nation to be accredited by the American Psychological Association. The Social Work Internship Program has existed for several decades, providing training for graduate students from UT Austin’s Steve Hicks School of Social Work. The Psychology Practicum Training Program provides training experiences for doctoral level graduate students from the counseling psychology and clinical psychology programs within UT Austin’s College of Liberal Arts.

The CMHC staff takes on the roles of mentors and trainers, crafting an environment where graduate students benefit personally and professionally from the journeys of discovery, growth and mutual enrichment. We aim to build an experience that fosters knowledge and skill-acquisition, while directly impacting the mental well-being of our student community.
