Substance Use Support Team

The Substance Use Support Team is for students who have questions about their own or someone else’s substance use. Whether you are just beginning to explore making changes in your use, ready to start making changes, or wanting to continue with changes you have already made, we are here to support you. The primary purpose of the team is to help you build insights into your substance use, provide strategies on minimizing harm related to your use, and work to understand how your use may intersect with your mental and physical well-being. From there, we will collaboratively develop a mental health informed treatment plan with you in order to meet your goals.

ACCESS

Access to the Substance Use Support Team begins with an intake with the Brief Assessment and Referral Team.

The Substance Use Support Team provides:

  • Individual and Group Harm Reduction Treatment
  • Outreach and Prevention
  • Assessment and Referral

Contact the Counseling and Mental Health Center at 512-471-3515 to schedule an assessment with a Substance Use Support Team clinician for personalized recommendations on harm reduction counseling, psychiatric services, or off-campus referrals. The program aims to enhance coping skills and establish healthier relationships with substances.

If the Substance Use Support Team isn't suitable, you will receive detailed referrals for off-campus treatment with guidance. The team also conducts outreach, offering substance-related trainings.
