Integrated Health Program (IH)

The Integrated Health Program is a collaborative effort between University Health Services and the Counseling and Mental Health Center, designed to provide comprehensive care for UHS patients. By bringing mental health providers to University Health Services, Integrated Health fosters a holistic approach to treatment.

The dedicated team comprises psychologists, clinical social workers and mental health trainees. The team recognizes that optimal health encompasses not only physical well-being but also psychological, emotional, and relational aspects. We strive to integrate all of these dimensions in our approach.

Students are referred to meet with an Integrated Health counselor by their UHS medical provider if it is thought that they would benefit from their collaboration as part of the treatment. Services are initiated with a brief consultation and may include recommendations for a psychological evaluation, behavioral counseling, groups, or referrals for services on-campus or in the community.

Common reasons for referrals to an Integrated Health counselor include:

  • Stress
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Insomnia
  • Fatigue
  • Headaches
  • Chronic pain
  • Gastrointestinal distress
  • Chronic health conditions
  • Unexplained physical symptoms
