Flu Vaccinations
Flu Vaccine Appointments Are No Longer Available
UHS flu vaccination appointments are no longer available for the 2025–26 academic year. Flu vaccine services will resume during the fall 2026 semester. Check this page for updated information when appointments become available.
For flu testing and vaccination options in the Austin area, contact your local health department. Many pharmacies also offer flu self-test kits and flu vaccinations. Austin Public Health also offers low-cost flu vaccinations by appointment.
Why Get Vaccinated?
Getting a flu vaccine helps protect both your health and the campus community:
- Lowers your risk of getting the flu or experiencing severe illness
- Reduces symptom severity and may shorten recovery time if you do get sick
- Helps protect people who cannot be vaccinated
- Reduces the risk of outbreaks in classrooms, residence halls and other shared spaces
- Helps prevent missed classes, work absences and healthcare costs
- Provides protection against the flu strains expected to circulate each year
It takes about two weeks after vaccination for your body to build protection.
