Services Provided
- Diagnostic x-rays
- Ultrasound exams
To get a radiological exam, you need an order from a healthcare provider (like a prescription). Most exams require no special preparation prior to the exam. If yours does, your healthcare provider will explain what you need to do.
If an off-campus provider sends your radiology order to UHS, please call us at 512-475-8277, Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. before you come in to make sure we have received it.
We send results to the provider who ordered them, so be sure to have the correct spelling of your doctor's name, their current address, phone number, and fax number. Orders should include the date, types of x-rays or ultrasounds needed, the doctor's signature, and your medical history related to your illness or injury.
Ultrasound appointments must be cancelled 24 hours prior to the appointment, or the patient will be charged $25. More information on late fees.
While UHS does not provide MRI, CT scans, bone scans, or mammogram services, providers can refer you to local facilities that do.
Sensitive Health Exams and Procedures
UHS utilizes chaperones for all sensitive physical examinations, including breast, genital, rectum and adjacent areas, and sensitive ultrasounds. Patients can request a chaperone at any time. For more information view the Patient Guide to Sensitive Health Exams (PDF).
