Services Provided
The UHS urgent care clinic is for students with medical conditions that require prompt evaluation or who need to be seen before the next available appointment.
Appointments
Make your appointment by calling the 24/7 Nurse Advice Line – 512-475-6877 and pressing #5 on Monday-Fridays from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. During this call, the nurse will triage your symptoms, review your health history and decide if you should come to urgent care, schedule an appointment at UHS, care for yourself at home or go to an emergency room.
When UHS is closed, the 24/7 Nurse Advice Line is answered by St. David’s Hospital nurses. These nurses can give medical advice but are unable to schedule appointments with UHS or with UHS urgent care.

Sensitive Health Exams and Procedures
UHS utilizes chaperones for all sensitive physical examinations, including breast, genital, rectum and adjacent areas, and sensitive ultrasounds. Patients can request a chaperone at any time. For more information view the Patient Guide to Sensitive Health Exams (PDF).
Negative Pressure Space
The Urgent Care suite includes a negative pressure space, enhancing safety for both students and staff. This feature allows UHS to manage respiratory illnesses like chickenpox, measles, tuberculosis, and meningitis more effectively. Negative pressure rooms use specialized ventilation to lower air pressure inside, pulling in air and preventing contaminants from escaping, ensuring a safer care environment.
