How to Schedule With Primary Care

Appointments can be made through the MyUHS/CMHC portal or by calling 512-471-4955.
UHS services are available only by appointment. This allows us to provide each patient focused care, and also allows preparation time between appointments and overall reduced wait times.
If you’re not sure whether you need an appointment, call the 24/7 Nurse Advice Line at 512-475-6877 for guidance.

Pressing and unexpected health needs come up sometimes. If you’re sick or injured, call us at 512-471-4955 Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m., or use the 24/7 Nurse Advice Line after hours, on weekends and holidays. We’ll help you find the fastest option for care—whether that’s a same-day appointment (when available) or a referral to urgent care or the ER.

Services Provided

Evaluations and Treatment For:

Acute illnesses (sore throat, cough, congestion, ear pain, eye infections, vomiting, diarrhea)
Minor injuries (abrasions, minor burns, minor cuts, muscle strains, joint sprains)
Chronic conditions (allergies, asthma, diabetes, heartburn, headaches, hypertension)
Skin and nail problems
Sexually transmitted infections testing and treatment

Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) for HIV
Mindful Eating
Stress, anxiety and depression
Clearance exams including study abroad, academic and employment

Medical Tests Available On-Site

Lab testing, including rapid tests for strep, flu, COVID-19 and pregnancy
X-rays
Ultrasounds

Flu/COVID-19 Testing Clinic

Have mild to moderate flu or COVID-19 symptoms? Schedule a quick nurse visit for testing. Symptoms may include fever, chills, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, headache, body aches or fatigue.

If you have severe symptoms or a health condition that puts you at higher risk for complications from flu or COVID-19, call the 24/7 Nurse Advice Line at 512-475-6877.

Schedule a test

Call 512-471-4955 to schedule.
Visits take about 10 minutes.
The visit costs $15 and is not covered by insurance.
Lab testing is a separate charge and will be billed to your insurance. If you do not have insurance or choose not to use it, you may be responsible for the lab cost.
Results are usually available within two hours.

If you test positive

Flu: Treatment is most effective when started within 48 hours.
COVID-19: Treatment should generally be started within five days.

At-home flu and covid-19 tests are also available at most pharmacies. If you test positive with a home test and want to discuss treatment, call 512-471-4955 to schedule a provider visit. You do not need to be re-tested.

Visit verification letters are available through the MyUHS/CMHC portal. UHS does not provide doctor’s notes.

On-Time Arrival for Appointments

Arrive 10 to 15 minutes early for check-in. If you arrive more than 10 minutes late to a scheduled appointment, your appointment will be rescheduled and you may be charged a $25 late fee.

Wheelchairs

You can access loaner wheelchairs through Student Outreach and Support. Make your reservation by contacting Student Outreach and Support (SOS) at 512-471-5017, Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Sensitive Health Exams and Procedures

UHS utilizes chaperones for all sensitive physical examinations, including breast, genital, rectum and adjacent areas, and sensitive ultrasounds. Patients can request a chaperone at any time. For more information view the Patient Guide to Sensitive Health Exams (PDF).
