Request a Workshop for your Group
The Longhorn Wellness Center offers a variety of workshops, trainings and other learning opportunities for students, faculty and staff. These are intended for student organizations, classes, UT departments, residence hall communities, FIGs/TrIGs and other groups.
The following offerings are available for a minimum group size of ten participants. Requests must be completed with two weeks advance notice. If your request falls outside of that timeline, we will do our best to accommodate but cannot guarantee availability. Unless noted otherwise, all LWC workshops are 45-50 minutes long and offered in person unless requested virtually.

Workshops for Undergraduate Students
Active Listening and Supportive Communication
This skill-based workshop teaches active listening and supportive communication skills that can be applied immediately to any relationship or environment. Participants build confidence in their skills through several 1:1 and small-group activities.
BeVOCAL: Introduction to Bystander Intervention
This workshop introduces the principles of bystander intervention and fosters a culture of care within the campus community. It equips faculty, staff and students with the knowledge and skills necessary to intervene safely and effectively in situations where harm may occur.
Coping With and Growing from Failure
This workshop introduces key themes around coping with and growing from failure and provides students with practical resources they can apply in their everyday lives.
Healthy Relationships
This workshop invites students to consider how they define healthy relationships in their life with an emphasis on romantic relationships. It covers tips and strategies for how to navigate relationships, primarily focusing on the 7 C's of Healthy Relationships (Consent, Communication, Conflict Resolution, Checking In, Compassion, Celebration, Courage).
Imposter Phenomenon: What It Is and How to Deal with It
This workshop addresses imposter phenomenon, how to identify it and how to deal with it through a growth mindset and other useful practices.
Introduction to Interpersonal Violence
This workshop introduces students to interpersonal violence, including dating violence, sexual assault and stalking. Students will leave with strategies and resources to address interpersonal violence.
Introduction to Sexual Health
This workshop covers key sexual health topics including pregnancy, contraception, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), consent and campus resources. Students will leave with knowledge of safer sex practices and how to support their sexual health.
Introduction to Voices Against Violence Resources
Learn about resources at UT Austin related to relationship violence, sexual violence and stalking, consent, healthy relationships and strategies for supporting survivors.
Longhorns Listen: Suicide Prevention Training
90 minutes
This workshop provides students, faculty and staff with experiential training focused on building knowledge, awareness and skills concerning college student suicide. Emphasis is placed on developing empathetic listening and communication skills. Participants will leave with an increased confidence in asking about suicidal thoughts and the ability to compassionately and directly connect others to resources to support them at UT Austin.
Mental Health First Aid Training
Participants will learn about mental health and substance use challenges, including recognizing and responding to signs and symptoms and how to provide support and resources. Please note this group training is 8 hours and participants will receive a certification in Mental Health First Aid upon completion. Your group must have at least 10 committed participants for the entirety of the training.

Nature Walk: Destress & Connect in Nature
Nature has powerful benefits for physical, mental and emotional well-being, and there are many nature spots on campus that can support well-being. In this fully experiential workshop, participants will be guided through a few different campus nature spots with opportunities to notice and connect.
SHARE Circles
50, 60 or 120 minutes
SHARE Circles are a structured form of group storytelling and wisdom-sharing that can help build closer relationships, understanding and community among a group of people. Trained Longhorn SHARE students facilitate and plan each Circle focused around the topic or theme that best fits your group's needs. Examples of previous SHARE circle topics include adjusting to life in college, navigating fear of failure, balancing academics and well-being and more.
Sleep and Rest
This workshop teaches students about the basic science of sleep and provides information and resources for how to improve rest and sleep practices.
Stalking Awareness and Prevention
This workshop teaches students to identify stalking through definitions and case examples. Students will also learn strategies for how to prevent stalking.
Strategies for Stress Management
Stress happens. This experiential mindfulness-based workshop explores proactive and reactive strategies for stress management. Participants will learn about the science and benefits of mindfulness, practice different strategies and create plans for daily habits and ways to manage stress.
Substance Use Safety
This workshop provides students with information on substance use safety and how to intervene during a substance use related emergency, including alcohol and drug overdose. Using a harm reduction lens, this presentation will help students to feel safe and empowered when navigating situations where substances are present.
Supporting Someone in Distress
This workshop develops the skill of how to talk to someone when you are concerned about them. Participants will learn key signs of distress, how to start a conversation, how to listen and respond and how to make a referral.
Taking Care of Yourself and Others
This workshop introduces students to the concept of well-being by sharing strategies to take care of themselves, build community by taking care of others and find support and resources on campus. Through individual reflection and group discussions, students will leave with a plan to act on these ideas in their own life.

Texas Well-being: Promoting Well-being in UT Learning Environments
15, 30, 60 or 90 minutes
This workshop provides an overview of college student well-being and of Well-being in Learning Environments (WBLE) implementation. It gives options to faculty and staff for how they can participate. The longer version has participants practice several well-being strategies and techniques.
